Americans Won’t Do Those Jobs?

It is claimed that most native born Americans will not do certain jobs like working in the fields. Of  course they won’t. They don’t have to. If you don’t work, the government is more than eager to give you food, shelter, a phone, and whatever else strikes your fancy. Everyone is happy because the lazy man doesn’t have to work, and the liberal has one new dependent person to count on in the next election.

What happened to America?

Many of us grew up working in the heat, cold, rain, and wind because there was no job beneath us. That doesn’t mean we wanted to do those tasks forever, but we could if need be. Why? We believed that it’s not the government’s responsibility to hold our hands through life. An able bodied man was expected to work and those who could not work were taken care of by family and the Church.

That has changed.

As more and more Americans realized that they could vote themselves more money, they began to work a little less or at least decided they would abstain from certain jobs.  If the government was going to just give them stuff, then why work in the fields or dig ditches. After all, those jobs don’t pay much, and they’re not that appealing.  I know because I use to do those jobs, though, to be honest, I still like manual labor. The difference today is that I do grunt work at my own pace when something needs to be fixed, repaired, hoed, weeded, etc.

Many of us worked our way out of those tough jobs into something better, but some today would rather get on the system and wait for something nice to open up instead of grinding it out.  That does sound appealing, but that attitude destroys the economy, and it doesn’t build character or appreciation for a strong work ethic.

For this reason, many of the tough jobs are filled by recent immigrants (both legal and illegal) because many American citizens will not go work in the fields, and, if they will, they don’t work as hard and are probably not reliable enough to actually show up on time.  However, there is a fix to all of this, and the Apostle Paul nails it.

“… If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat.” 1 Thessalonians 3:10

When you get hungry enough, baggin’ onions and pluckin’ chickens gets awfully enticing.  If we cut down on the gimme programs (ie. food stamps used to buy rib-eye steaks), then people would do the less appealing jobs. Not only would that abate America’s thirst for illegal immigration, but it would also build some character in those who just want to mooch.

I sympathize with those who will do whatever it takes to provide for their families but are just having difficulty getting any kind of work, but I do not sympathize with those who are ‘not willing to work.’ Subsidizing that kind of lifestyle only reinforces government dependency, a dependency that runs up debt and drains whatever money is still left in our coffers.

Crony Capitalism And The Destruction of Economic Freedom in America

I have an aunt who is now in her later years, but something very disturbing happened to her when she was younger. Listen to her story.

My great aunt is an excellent baker and is renowned in the local community for her delicious cakes. I can taste one of those multi-layered red velvet cakes right now …  mmmm. Make you wanna slap ya mama :)  At some point, she decided to market her pastries to individual and businesses like local restaurants.  Then she hit a massive set back. Were there complaints about her cakes? Absolutely not. Were there suspicions about the cleanliness of her kitchen? Never. Was she losing money? Nope.  What then was threatening to devour her faster than a lion after a sick zebra?

A local bakery decided that they were going to close her business by using the law to do it. Instead of competing with better cakes and more competitive prices, they used the legal route. She used her own kitchen, which is a big no-no! This is why we and many others can’t sell food products.
Crony Capitalism at its best. If you can’t compete, then eliminate.

Providentially, she was able to continue because there was another large room in their home that could be converted into an additional separate kitchen. It wasn’t cheap because she had to purchase a whole gob of stuff, but she did it. Many cannot stomach the expense, so they just never open their doors to begin with, and this destroys home based businesses. Businesses that are built at home so that people can spend more time with their family.

What’s the solution?

First of all, call out this nonsense, and condemn it as evil. Second of all, if you want to own a home based business, look for a niche that is not as regulated … well not yet anyway.

Crisis Politics Is Manufactured Anxiety: A Biblical Response

As we reach another alleged crises that isn’t Armageddon, it’s time to think through a Biblical response. What I’m speaking of at the moment is not in reference to specific policy decisions, which do need to be addressed in the long term; rather, something much more important is at stake ….

Our Response To Manufactured Anxiety

The point of a manufactured crises is to create manufactured anxiety. By keeping people in a perpetual state of frenzy, political leadership gains a mental and psychological hand over constituents. How?

If I can keep you anxious about matters that aren’t that important, then I can distract you from what you should really be concerned about. In our case, as Christians, our highest concern must always be loving God and living our neighbor. In this, we are engaging in true worship to His glory as we rest in His sovereignty and speak the truth in love to our neighbor.

When the leaders of our culture succeed in distracting us, they are empowered to rip society apart and remold it into their own image. The issues that we hold dear are marginalized, and agendas that we should despise our heavily pressed behind the scenes. All of this is done under the cloak of ‘equality and fairness’.  After all, Christians do believe in elements of both.

We believe in equality in that all men are made in the image if God and that Christ died for His sheep from all tribes, nations, and tongues. Likewise, we are commanded to treat all men the same in that we are not to show favoritism based on any economic status, which is what the epistle of James strongly condemns. We are to take care of the widow and orphan, and employers must not take advantage of those who labor for them, something else James addresses. These specific verses are often directly quoted or alluded to by politicians. After all, if you are going to manipulate a confessing Christian people, then it is very useful to take advantage of principles they already advocate.

However, such workers of iniquity are working to hijack these verses by demonically twisting them to introduce a specific foreign god, and his name is ‘state‘.  All are to bow down and worship Caesar as the giver of life and taker of life. The state is lord over your life, and only it is capable of taking care of all your needs. The One True God is to be ridiculed and hated, but the state, which is really a curtain for the small elite, is to be lifted up as King of kings and Lord of lords.

What blasphemy!

On the contrary, let us not worship Caesar but God Almighty, He Who created all things and Who commands our absolute obedient worship. He never fails because He is love, and He is the answer to all of our ills. Uncle Sam only exists to protect the dignity of man via the punishment of evil doers. Once this has ceased, then government has become a wicked idol that rules with tyranny according to its precepts and statutes. It has set itself up as holy, yet we must not believe the many lies that flow from the ruling class, lies that come from the father of lies, the devil himself. Such deceptions are created to infuse us with anxiety in an attempt to steal our joy and, if possible, leads us into apostasy.

So let’s deal with all of this and stand firm against the evil one. Here are some suggestions when dealing with manufactured anxiety.

1. If possible, reduce your exposure to the means of anxiety. This usually occurs through the mass leftist media. If you watch and listen to it all the time, then it will affect you and lead you into a manufactured anxiety.

2. Don’t let these situations absorb all of your conversations. We need to discuss issues that face our culture at large, but we must do so while extolling God and His plan. Obsession about what is fake to begin with is fruitless.

3. Don’t turn society off and withdraw to apathy and cynicism; this is victory to the haters of God. On the contrary, let your light shine before men so that when they see your disposition and hear your praises to God, they will inquire about your lack of anxiety, which provides a wide open door to the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Our God reigns, and we shall glory in Him as we take solace in His grace and mercy. We will not succumb to any inclination of anxiety, whether manufactured by the state or otherwise. To do so is sinful, and sin is rebellion against the LORD God.  Therefore, tremble before Him and not the state. It only has the power to kill the body, but He has the power to destroy both body and soul in Hell.
