By His Grace & For His Glory: A Generation Rebuilds

For many of us this is our story. A story of rebuilding.

Many of our great grandfathers built a great house, but it was built upon the sands of an external form of godliness.

Their offspring, our grandfathers who fought and won a great war as heroes of old, could pass on little more than a vague shadow of morality themselves, which was quickly cast into the abyss of deep darkness by their sons.

In this, our father’s generation, had so few children, and they hurled themselves towards a great rebellion and apostasy that even their fathers had not known.

In selfishness, they aborted their children, and to those whom they had, they gave their sons to other sons and their daughters to other daughters.

Others simply turned a blind eye as they watched their sons sire children only to leave them to unwed mothers who grew in their dependency upon the state and mock The True and Living God.

Today, like their fathers, these sons have indulged in the trifles of this world, and, with their fathers, they have plunged a whole people into a terrible wickedness filled with all kinds of horror.

All seems lost, for the wisdom that came out of Jerusalem has been despised, lost, and forgotten.

In its place, Athens prevails upon the hearts of men and they lust after the many evils found in this fallen world which is filled with sin and violence.

Yea, but not all have forgotten, for a remnant rising, and they have beheld The One Who reigns on High.

They rule with Him in the heavenlies as they fight the good fight of faith no matter the loss, scorn, and ridicule.

Out of the ashes and nearly hidden from view, we have risen, and our numbers grow beyond the reckoning of our most vile enemies, among whom many of us once were.

Unlike many of our forefathers before us, we have chosen to build our house upon the Rock, Jesus Christ, He Who is Lord of lords and King of kings! Amen!

Our detractors are filled with great fear because their scorn, which worked upon our fathers, only emboldens our resolve and nurtures our cause to see Christ glorified in the home, in the Church, and amongst the nations of this world.

Let us therefore keep rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem and raise a great generation unto the Lord.

May we continue to teach our children to know Him as we come home to our families at the end of the day instead of chasing after vain and selfish ambition.

May our little ones grow up to sing His praise and cultivate a time of great refreshing in these dry and thirsty lands.

The battle belongs to the Lord.

By His grace and for His glory we rise to the occasion.

O Lord, come quickly.

Soli Deo Gloria

Nelson Mandela: Death Comes To Us All

Some idolize Nelson Mandela while others vilify Him. One thing is for sure. He lived into his 90s and then died, just like every other man. Some lived to exceptionally long life, as indicated in Genesis 5, but they too died.  No man can escape this reality, which is something that should send us to our knees.

The Book of Ecclesiastes written by King Solomon leaves us with some sobering words.
“1 But all this I laid to heart, examining it all, how the righteous and the wise and their deeds are in the hand of God. Whether it is love or hate, man does not know; both are before him.
2 It is the same for all, since the same event happens to the righteous and the wicked, to the good and the evil, to the clean and the unclean, to him who sacrifices and him who does not sacrifice. As the good one is, so is the sinner, and he who swears is as he who shuns an oath.
3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun, that the same event happens to all. Also, the hearts of the children of man are full of evil, and madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.”
Ecclesiastes 9:1-3 (ESV)

All men go to the grave because all have sinned. Such is the fruit of rebellion.

“12 Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned-
13 for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law.
14 Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come.”
Romans 5:12-14 ESV

What a bleak and vain outlook it is for the sons of men!

Even so, that is not the end of the story. Two men did escape death: Enoch and Elijah. They point to the reality that there is life after this one, that God rewards righteousness, and those in Christ have been given the great gift of eternal life.

“50 I tell you this, brothers: flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
51 Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed.
53 For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
54 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
55 “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?”
56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
1 Corinthians 15:50-58 (ESV)

That last part is especially encouraging, for our labors in the Lord are not in vain. Solomon ends,

“13 The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.”
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 (ESV)

All things will be brought before the Judgment Seat of Christ. Let us therefore, lay up treasure in heaven as we work diligently to be used as instruments of God to glorify His Name and grow His Kingdom. In doing so, we will grow in the knowledge of Him experiencing His eternal love, joy, and peace that passes all understanding.

When Lying Erodes Society, Let Your Light Shine

Lying is found everywhere from your child’s lips to the average drunk driver that has always only had ‘a couple beers’. Politics is no different, for it has been a useful political tool since the beginning, yet God hates outright deceit in an effort to deny justice, oppress the widow and orphan, etc. Furthermore, it’s not that any particular politician couldn’t pass his preferred legislation and that be construed as a lie; rather it’s when he lies about saying he could do something when he knew he couldn’t and laughed about it. All of that to win an election thereby lining his pockets and securing his power.

Needless to say, there’s plenty of lying to go around. What’s so concerning today is how bold the lies have become. There is no fear of God before men, and the haters of God on the left have grown in their boldness, while those on the institutional right sit quietly and barely raise an eyebrow themselves.

WND reports, “The pattern has become obvious in that those on the far left in American politics feel they have a license to lie, almost casually and without conscience, following a model that was introduced by the Soviets in the 1920s, so much so that it has become normative for the Democratic Party and their allies in the media,” Cashill said. “In response, we acquiesce in that our allies on the institutional political right under-cut us when we try to expose the truth by calling us ‘conspiracy theorists.’”

This, Cashill stressed, supported his basic theme for the evening: “How to become a genuine, all-American ‘conspiracy theorist,’ because in the eyes of the mainstream media, if we dare to tell the truth, we are going to be cast as ‘conspiracy theorists’ by the left in the effort to preserve the lie by discrediting us as truth-tellers.”

What does the Lord say to such wickedness?

“16 There are six things that the LORD hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,
18 a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil,
19 a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. ”

Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV)

In a world filled with so much evil, we must seize the day and realize that when we let our light shine before men, we penetrate the darkness with great veracity. Just because the political class is filled with so much corruption doesn’t mean we should plummet into despair. Simply living the Christian life of integrity day in and day out pierces the wickedness of this world and calls His sheep out of the darkness into His wonderful light.

As we reign with Christ today, we have far more power than we are led to believe or even realize at times, for a single Christian armed with the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ can wield the sword, which is the Word of God, on a daily basis and gain great victory in the heavenly realm, which is where the hardest fought war persists. The Kingdom of God grows day by day as He is filling His ranks with warriors for truth who will dwell with Him into the ages. What a great glory that is and what a great joy it is to be part of such Kingdom building! Amen!
