Nathan The Prophet Meets Barak Obama

The unwillingness of rulers to confess and repent during a scandal is not uncommon because their power, reputation, prestige, and even their wealth may hang in the balance. They become tyrants and use their power to intimidate any whistle-blowers. This is exactly what Barack Obama has done. The question then is, “Will he repent or will he not?  One King did exactly that.

Nathan confronts David

When our beloved King David pursued the wife of another (2 Samuel 11:1-5) and then worked to cover it up (2 Samuel 11:6-27), Nathan the Prophet shrewdly exposed the King for his treachery to His face (Samuel 12:1-12). David was exposed, but He did the unthinkable. He repented (2 Samuel 12:13-14), and the Lord spared His life. However, there are always consequences for sin, so the child died as a result of David’s sin (2 Samuel 11:14-23), and numerous other consequences would arise as well (2 Samuel 12:10-12).

Nevertheless, two things were at work here: the willingness of Nathan to fear God and confront the King and the fear of God in David to repent when he was laid bare. This is an incredible case study of Biblical discipline, repentance, and restoration of fellowship with the Lord. Not only did Kind David repent, but he wrote our beloved Psalm 51 which was David’s cry of repentance to the Lord for all the world to hear, something a pagan king would not dare to do.

We now face a situation in our country where the President has found himself neck deep in deception, cover-up, and lies. He has been exposed again and again with each passing scandal, yet he refuses to confess his sin and repent of his treachery. There is much at stake obviously, for, if he confesses, then he will be shown to be the liar that he is. If he doesn’t, then he will have to keep lying and continue to use the media to bully his way through his many cover-ups.

How then should we react as Christians?

As hard as it is to pray for such impenitent leaders, we are commanded to do so (2 Timothy  2:1-4). The heart of God is greater than our lust for vengeance, and vengeance is the Lord’s (Romans 12:14-21). We must never forget that. Let us pray that our President repents of his sin, and may He face the consequences of his actions as a repentant man instead of one condemned before the Almighty.

May our prayer before the Lord be for the salvation of Barack Obama and those of his staff. May we not be filled with bitter hatred, for we were just as dead in our trespasses in sin (Ephesians 2:1). He must surely be held accountable, for God is not mocked, but we are commanded to love our neighbor and our enemies (Luke 6:35). That is not easy, but with God all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).

Scandal and a False Witness

Our world has been riddled with scandals since Adam, and today is no different. From the beginning, the father of lies (John 8:44) has set himself against the Lord, yet God is not silent on this issue, and it goes further than most of us realize.

“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor,” (Exodus 20:16) is unique in that it hones in on something particular. Though the Bible is replete with condemnations and warnings against a lying tongue (Exodus 23:1; Psalms 120:2; Proverbs 6:17, 12:19, 21:6, 26:28; Matthew 15:19), bearing false witness is deeply significant. Why is this?

As God was setting the stage for the giving of the whole Law, the Ten Commandments (Exodus 20:1-17) acted as a preamble of sorts from which the rest of the Law would flow out of. Like the other commandments in the Decalogue, bearing false witness was not just personal but societal as well, so witness testimony would play a critical role in adjudication of the Mosaic Law. How seriously did God take perjury?

If the witness lied, then he or she would be punished, and, if the testifying witness committed perjury, such a person could be sentenced to death as implied in Deuteronomy 19:16-19. That seems harsh to those of us who live under a rather weak judicial system, but condemning a man via false testimony is atrocious. Imagine being sentenced to death because of a false witness, which is why we see the demand for a second witness (Deuteronomy 19:15).

Think about the criticality of two witnesses. If both conflicted, then someone was lying or there was a serious misperception of the event. Furthermore, collusion is much less likely when there are two witnesses. The only way to do that well is to have virtually identical accounts, which almost always results in suspicion. As one can see, the requirement for two witnesses was used as a check against false testimony, but both could be lying. For this reason, perjury was punished severely (Deuteronomy 19:16-19), and this retributive justice against anyone who bore false witness was used a deterrent (Deuteronomy 19:20). Seeing someone executed for perjury was sure to make a potential false witness think twice, something we tend to laugh at today.

We are quite lax in cases of perjury, for most people consider bearing false witness in court justice another common crime that gets some menial punishment if any.  For this reason, our society will continue to crumble. Why? To turn a blind eye to false witnessing unravels the justice system and the rest of society with it. When we don’t take perjury seriously, evil wells up.  People are more likely to lie when they are on the stand today because they realize they don’t have much to lose. This creates a situation whereby, on the one hand, the wicked are set free or have severely reduced sentences because of false testimony, and, on the other, the righteous are falsely accused and carry out unjust punishment because of a lying tongue. The people will continue live in fear as the wicked rise up and dominate society (Proverbs 28:12; 29:2; Habakkuk 1:4).

On the contrary, when righteousness prevails because the people speak truth, a great glory is beheld, and this was magnified in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. How so? Interestingly, when it is broken down, the gospel accounts are so powerful because the accounts are not identical. They are similar and accurate, and their variations can be attributed to their differing vantage points, which is exactly what we would expect with truthful testimony. These eyewitness testimonies become much more credible, for each witness is truthfully rendering an account of what was seen and heard without collusion.

To further illustrate the glory of the Resurrection, God went above and beyond with many witnesses. Biblically, only two witnesses (Deuteronomy 19:15) were enough to validate an account, yet God orchestrated events so that there would be hundreds of eyewitnesses to the Resurrected Christ (1 Corinthians 15:6). For this reason, the burden of proof is clearly on those who oppose the gospel, which is a humiliating position to defend and advocate.

Therefore, let us rejoice in this great commandment against false witnessing. Not only does it establish justice, but it also builds up and encourages the righteous. In that, let us not undervalue a truthful testimony, and may we never excuse perjury.

Censorship, The Tea Party, and The IRS

The IRS has the ability to wield an incredible amount of power, and they have certainly done that against the Tea Party, a grassroots movement, ironically, that opposes everything the IRS stands for.

Liberals, which include the spectrum on the left of fascists, socialists, and communists, always work to silence opposition through intimidation and censorship.  They reign with a heavy iron fist, and no amount of purging is beyond their conception.  On the contrary, conservatives allow for debate and seek to win in the battlefield of ideas through open forum.  Liberals cannot allow for this because they always lose on content and must manipulate the people through emotion, name-calling, and manufactured crises.

This action by the IRS is horrendous, for to use the IRS as a weapon to censor and silence political opposition is tyrannical and leads to a massive abuse of power. This methodology must be opposed and condemned if our constitutional republic is to survive. Many conservatives would rather dissolve the IRS altogether, which will take an incredible amount of public support and a significant turn over in Congress, so sending new men grounded in Biblical thought to Congress and the White must be a high priority. Voting the same crowd back election after election will not bring about the change needed to end this tyranny.

Biblically, we cannot succumb to censorship and stop preaching the truth, especially in the realm of evangelism.  Just as the left has used the IRS to target the Tea Party, they have also historically done the same to the Church.  We serve God and not man, so we shall never be silenced as we work to bring the gospel to all tribes, nations, and tongues.  We cannot and will not simply be pushed to the side, for, as Tertullian once said, “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the gospel.” This has been the case for millennia, and it is no exception today. It may come to that here in America, and, with abortion, euthanasia, and infanticide, it already has.

Benghazi: To Lie or Not To Lie

As Benghazi gate continues to unfold, may we never forget how important integrity is to the Lord. The wicked may laugh for a season, but their judgment will always come faster and sooner than they expect, and this scandal is no exception.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham testifies on Capitol Hill in Washington on Wednesday, before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on the deadly September attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans. (Pablo Martinez Monsivais/AP)

In the midst of all this, I was reminded of the Clinton-Lewinski scandal, which developed while I was attending the Air Force Academy. Ironically, we had just received a briefing on integrity from a U.S. Senator shortly after the vote was cast. It was a great speech, especially to a group of cadets who submit themselves to the very stringent honor code. However, then Senator Bob Kerry from Nebraska hit a major glitch during the Q&A time.

Many of us were wondering how he voted with regard to Clinton’s impeachment proceedings. After all, Clinton’s perjury was a big deal to us because it was about integrity. If we as lowly cadets were going to be held to a very high standard, then the Commander-In-Chief certainly should be. So how did he vote?

One cadet finally got up and asked the question. An auditorium of about 1500-2000 cadets was virtually silent if memory serves me right. The Senator hemmed and hawed for a moment and then spilled the beans. He voted not to convict Clinton. It was like all the air left a giant hot air balloon.

Whatever he had just so eloquently stated about integrity went right out the door. Afterwards, a slew of fellas pestered him some more about why? Needless to say, I would not have wanted to be him in that very compromising predicament.

So what about Benghazi?

If the higher ups lied to cover for a political agenda (which seems pretty likely), they need to come clean. Deal with the consequences and move on. If they did lie, then more lying will only make it worse, especially in light of eternity. God knows all things, so it is foolish to think one might pull a fast one over on Him. Better to repent and deal with the fallout. Otherwise, a much greater judgment lies ahead on the horizon.

The truth is that we are all liars and are in desperate need of God’s grace. May we never take that for granted, and may we humbly submit to Him as we live out the Christian life.

Abortion & Gosnell: Regulate What We Want?

When are regulations conveniently not enforced? The Billion Dollar Abortion Industry.

This is quite the opposite otherwise. A good inspector can smell a home baked good sold in a local restaurant a 1,000 miles away. It’s origin will be tracked down in a matter of minutes, and grandma will be told to shut down her kitchen or absorb tens of thousands of dollars in regulations required to stay in business. They’ll descend on her humble home like white on rice.  If she resists, she’ll be met with a gun from someone at the local police department. Granny submits, and the elites cry out with great rejoicing as they have yet again preserved the ‘health and safety’ of the public. Bah-humbug.

Not so with the abortion industry. It’s a butcher’s free for all, and Kermit Gosnell’s ‘health clinic’ is but one example of many. The great evil that takes place every day in abortion meat shops is atrocious, yet the media has been virtually silent in covering the trial, save a few outlets.

However, I was shocked to see that at least one major media outlet finally showed pictures from that gruesome abortion facility. Unless I am mistaken, I have never seen such in depth coverage during prime time for one whole hour. It was encouraging to say the least. It means that our fighting is beginning to take root more and more. Regardless of their motive, FoxNews did the unthinkable with that abortion special.

Wilberforce fought for years to end the African slave trade in Britain, and he finally succeeded. He would show people the ugliness of it. Just like slavery and the NAZI death camps, abortion must be plastered across the media for all to see. We cannot allow this to fade in the background and ignore this great reign of terror. The African Slave Trade & The Holocaust was not a mere side issue, and neither is this.

May the jury convict Gosnell of murder, and may he receive an oak and a rope for his evil. May that send tremors to Planned Parenthood and all the rest. Justice is coming and you’re next. If you wear a red sash, then the law is coming (Tombstone).

Wyatt Earp

Enough is enough. May God take vengeance and end this great ungodliness.

Best Public Defender For Terrorist?

One of the best public defenders will stand on the side of the Boston terror bomber. Maybe he should get the scraps instead of the Five Course Meal.

It’s amazing how we go to such great lengths to defend evil. Sure, we grant a defendant the right to trial by jury, but do we really need to get a radical anti-death penalty defense attorney? All of the usual, “He fell under bad influence,” mantra will come out. Mom will wipe a tear, and his act of terror will turn into an event where he was the real victim and America is the real criminal by being such a mean capitalist country that needed to be checked.

What a charade it will be! We call evil good and good evil.

Furthermore, unless something monumental happens in the hearts of the people, these acts of war will only escalate. America may not have declared war on Islam, but it has declared war on us.

We wonder what the next attack will be like. Will it be with WMD? Will politicians still go soft on Islam? Anyway, if nothing else, the pro-pluralist anti-Christian defense lawyers will get plenty of practice, and their skills will be honed all the better to run America in the ground. What’s worse is that I think they actually enjoy it. They can’t wait to defend the next terrorist so that they are empowered to deride America in court and in the press. It’s like a dog salivating over gravy and lamb chops.

The real question will be what will become of the faithful remnant in the coming years and decades as this runs its course. May we not lose heart, no matter how frustrated and agitated we become about our legal system that loves the enemy and despises its citizens. God is still on His throne, and those who perpetrate evil will be without excuse before the Divine Court, which is why each of us are in desperate need of Jesus Christ at the end of the day.
